A 16-month-long peaceful farmers’ protest in Tibbi village, Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan, has escalated into violence amid growing opposition to a proposed ethanol plant by Dune Ethanol Private Limited. What began as a sustained, non-violent movement has now raised serious questions about development, environmental safety, and farmers’ rights. The ethanol factory is planned close to residential areas and fertile agricultural land, triggering deep concerns among villagers. Farmers fear that the project could lead to air pollution, groundwater contamination, excessive water usage, and long-term damage to farming livelihoods in an already water-stressed region. Villagers say they have been boycotting the project for over a year, claiming they were neither adequately consulted nor reassured about environmental safeguards. Tensions peaked when protests intensified, leading to clashes between farmers and police. Protesters allege that the administration resorted to lathi-charge, tear gas shelling, and firing to disperse the crowd, while authorities maintain that force was used to control the situation. The confrontation resulted in injuries, detentions, damage to property, and temporary internet shutdowns in parts of the district. In this ground report, journalist Kashish Singh travels to Tibbi village to bring you on-ground visuals and firsthand accounts from farmers, families, and local residents. The report examines the larger debate surrounding private ethanol projects, the government’s push for biofuel production, and whether environmental clearances and public consent processes are being followed in spirit. As India accelerates its energy transition, this report asks critical questions: Who bears the cost of development? Are farmers’ voices being heard? And can green energy truly be sustainable without community trust? Watch the full ground report for a deeper understanding of the story behind the headlines. #tibbi #hanumangarh #rajasthan #farmersprotest #rajasthanfarmers #ethanolfactory #ethanolproduction #farmersrights #groundreport #ruralindia #environmentalsafety #watercrisis #agriculture #biofuelproduction #developmentdebate #indianews #villagevoices ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 📲 Available on: • Molitics App (iOS) – https://apps.apple.com/in/app/molitic... • Molitics App (Android) – https://play.google.com/store/apps/de... • Website – https://www.molitics.in 📢 Follow us on: • View all Videos :- https://www.molitics.in/moliticsvideo... • Facebook – / molitics • Twitter – https://x.com/moliticsindia?s=20 • Instagram – / moliticsindia • WhatsApp Channel – https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vaa7... 📩 Contact us at: [email protected]
