A first look at Green Hell. Survival and Crafting Game. Background Music: Fire in the Desert Sky Thanks to Captain_Sleepy, Music by Captain Sleepy from Pixabay In this episode I am still separated from Mia and lost in the Amazon rainforest but 20% less lost even if my wits have fled for the hills. I battled the elements and found a way out.... trip city. That is right, I drank the fruit punch. I wander about a little less lost but still trying to get my bearings. The Grappling Hook is still out of reach. I laugh at the spectre of my own demise as he tires of the chase. Except for video lag freezing the game again and again everything goes pretty smoothly. Had to merge the stopped video pieces together but at least you do not have to sit and watch me fuming at a frozen screen. No edits, background music added. As always I try to keep the language clean but the character in game does not agree with this so a few profanities will be heard. In this episode I have a pretty easy time of it though I am half asleep. I find the same camp I found in Survival mode but not the jeep I found there but unlike when I found it in survival mode I actually survived finding it. Big cat greeted me with loving nips and licks but that was not even recorded. With that knowledge I will not be setting up house there if I can find a better spot. My feelings on the game. Crafting is okay, they did not go overboard in layers of crafting. Recipes just pop right up if you lift things. Lift big rock get rock storage, lift log get long and long stick storage. Not just storage though, you get other recipes. Maybe just crafting an easy item over and over will earn points to get you a recipe. Exploration is good and hunting is certainly functional. The game gives some grace to bad aim and for that I deduct half a point. Still a good effort by the developers and even though game is about 8 years old it is definitely viable. Close combat leaves something to be desired as well as AI danger recognition. If you are not seen you can un-alive the cannibals with they looking at each other and the living one does not react. Miss and they are all after you. Big cats ignore easy prey like peccaries (pigs) and go straight for you but at least they stalk. Sometimes you will dispatch a rattler, walk a distance away and circle back and the rattler will be back and invincible. So the game is not without errors. 1 full crash without explanation, dozens of freezes with all but 1 that sorted itself out after a minute or three. Overall I would give it a 7.5/10. A good survival game. Somewhat challenging even in normal setting. Grading (each aspect part can earn up to 1 point, and each aspect has at least 2 parts) 2/2 for crafting 1.5/2 for Hunting (half point deduction for Grace) 2/2 for Depth (story line and interaction with environment) .5/2 for AI and close combat 1.5/2 for graphics and playability in regards to graphic issues (a solid 1 point for good graphics), freezing, stutters and crash (not the best but far from the worst but with no real impact on my GPU, CPU, Memory)
