The city of Padua (Padova in Italian) has a very long history dating back to the Roman era. The city has approximately 210,000 citizens and is located 35 kilometers from Venice in the Veneto Region. Padua is famous for it's university (since 1222), the Basilica of Saint Anthony and the Cappella degli Scrovegni with the outstanding fresco's from Giotto which marks the beginning of Renaissance and the end of the Byzantine influence of Italy.
