In 19th Century Germany, a newly married couple, the Marquis Wolfgang and his bride Louise celebrate an extended honeymoon at an abandoned castle which they have modernized for their stay. To celebrate, they host a large ball. Due to there being so many unfamiliar faces present, the Vampire Baron, who has been using the wine cellar as his lair during the castle's dormant years, is able to join the festivities. He attracts the attention of all the female guests, yet he is obviously interested in only one lady... Louise. They briefly dance after which Louise performs a piano piece she feels strangely compelled to play, composing it in a trans-like state. Overwhelmed, she retires to her room, where she is visited by the vampire who she offers her blood to, still entranced by his vampiric charm.
