I'm honored to share this instrumental recreation with all of you, because it features two legendary Beatles tribute band musicians Dom Rossi and Grant Gerlach! I've been meaning to cover Bad Boy for a long time. George Harrison played his Gretsch Tennessean and I wanted to recreate his lead guitar parts. But it also includes John Lennon's Rickenbacker 325 rhythm guitar, which I do not own Luckily, I am friends with @DRguitar918 and @mendips09 who are part of the amazing Beatles tribute band @beatologytribute If you haven't subscribed to Dom's Youtube channel, you are missing out! He is an incredibly talented musician. Case in point, he is right-handed but learned to play bass lefty... Grant can play just about any instrument and he can nail John's rhthym guitar style on his Rickenbacker 325, so we just had to include him. And thus the Bad Boys were born! Bad Boy was a song written by Larry Williams and covered by the Beatles in 1965. It was originally only released in the US on the album Beatles VI. Larry Williams also wrote Dizzy Miss Lizzy, Slow Down and Short Fat Fannie. The original lineup was Paul- Hofner Bass, Hohner Pianet C Ringo- Ludwig Drums, Tambourine John- Vocals, Rickenbacker 325, Vox Continental Organ George- Gretsch Tennessean The Bad Boys lineup- Sam- Gretsch Tennessean, Hohner Pianet T, Drums Grant- Rickenbacker 325, Tambourine, Organ Dom- Hofner Bass We learned some interesting facts about this song, with the help of @DLD2Music who gave us the isolated tracks to study. We discovered that in addition to Paul's Pianet electric piano part, there is a fast Vox Organ part played by Lennon during the guitar solo. We also learned that George used a volume pedal during the solo on one of his Tennesseans Our Gear: 1967 Gretsch 6119 Chet Atkins Tennessean Rickenbacker 325c64 Hofner Ignition Violin Bass Hohner Pianet T Arturia Vox Continental Ludwig Tambourine Vox AC15C1 (Grant's) Vox AC30C2x (Sam's) Amplitube 5 British Copper 30TB (2x15 Closed D J130)- Dom's Bass Ernie Ball VP Jr. Volume Pedal (Analogman Taper Mod) Pearl Export Series Drum Kit Ludwig Blue Oyster Pearl Jazz Fest 5.5" Snare Zildjian A Series 18” Crash Sabian B8 14" Hi Hats Tech 21 Liverpool Warm Audio WA-47 Neumann TLM-103 Shure SM57 AKG D112 Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe to all our channels! #thebeatles #tributeband #instrumental
