STOP WAKING UP WITH NUMB FINGERS . TAG SOMEONE WHO COMPLAINS ABOUT WAKING UP WITH THEIR RING/PINKY FINGERS NUMB . Waking up in the middle of the night with your ring/pinky fingers numb or feeling them buzzing while using your phone sucks! I personally go through phases of dealing with this, it always seems to be when I ramp up my upper body training volume and I’m not stretching as much. Life happens, we get busy! However, I ALWAYS fall back to these movements and they work like a charm. Heres why ⤵️ . What is likely going on is your ulnar nerve and maybe even some vascular structures are being compressed. There are a ton of theoretical compression sites from your neck and collarbone region all the way down to your elbow that could be contributing. Extended exposure to nerve compression or tension can lead to nerve irritation, and an irritated nerve is really not fun to deal with as it gets very sensitive! If you’re dealing with this, these movements are definitely worth a try! . I always tackle my thoracic spine mobility, triceps and pec minor stretching, and of course ulnar nerve glides. The Monopoly Guy / Ace Ventura ulnar nerve glide is SO GOOD🔥. When I show patients this, I tell them its the money💰 stretch because it works so dang well. It is NORMAL to feel tension and a pulling sensation into your ring and pinky finger, however, there is honestly no expectations when you first perform this. Do what you can, and do it often. It will improve and you’ll be surprised how easy it is to get into the starting position (hand/fingers on face) after being consistent with it! . ❌ We are realistic and not absolutists - this MAY NOT work for you (but be patient and give it time). If your issue gets worse or you notice you’re dropping stuff frequently and unable to hold onto anything ➡️ it may be in your best interest to get it checked out!
