Finding Out More There are so many biographies of James Dean, it is hard to pick a front runner. I used Rebel: The Life and Legend of James Dean by Donald Spoto which is well-regarded and James Dean: The Mutant King by David Dalton, but I wasn’t at all impressed. The Real James Dean: Intimate Memories from Those Who Knew Him Best edited by Peter L. Winkler is a collection of first-person accounts, providing contradictory but valuable insights.
