The Picchiotti 55m Ice Class motor yacht from the Vitruvius® series, Galileo G, is the second motor yacht that the Perini Navi Group's Picchiotti brand has manufactured. The first was Exuma, a Picchiotti 50m that was christened in July 2010. M/Y Picchiotti 55m has been designed and constructed according to Ice Class classification guidelines so that this yacht can reach the Arctic along the Northwest Passage, the sea route that connects the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans via the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. The Picchiotti 55m Ice Class from the Vitruvius® series has been designed and constructed in accordance with ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) guidelines for Ice Class IB which also correspond with Finnish-Swedish Ice Class IB and Canadian Arctic Regulations for Type C. The project also complies with IMO (International Maritime Organization) and AWPPA (Arctic Waters Pollution Prevention Act) rules for safety under sail and for prevention of marine pollution.
