Soon after he obtained a driver’s license, Gernot Aschoff found himself elbow deep in British sports cars. His first was an MGA plucked from the classifieds of a classic sports car magazine. It was in terrible shape, but Gernot was hardly dissuaded from going deeper into the rabbit hole. In today’s film, we join him for a drive in his meticulously restored Austin-Healey BT7 3000. A quintessential piece of the British roadster canon, Gernot’s example sat in a shed for 40 years before he embarked on his two-decade and counting custodianship. He was careful to make sure that the result of the restoration was factory-perfect, but don’t let the time capsule appearance bely Gernot’s habits.
