31ST KØPI BIRTHDAY is under LOCKDOWN

KØPI was first established in 1990. Originally the space was unlivable, but a small group of dedicated people built what would eventually become a hub for many DIY activities and events. Today, 31 years later, KØPI is home to activists, artists, musicians, and freaks living in the building and Wagenplatz. KØPI is also home to a variety of other collectives. We have several spaces for live music, performances, forums, and soli events, as well as a kino, Sportshalle, Infoshop, Food not Bombs and bicycle workshop, printing as well as building workshops. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KØPI! But on 4th Feb 2021 KØPI Wagenplatz received a formal letter from Startezia Gmbh, the owner of KØPI & Wagenplatz, starting an eviction process. It states an ultimatum to empty Wagenplatz by the end of February. After this date, a court process will follow. We see an attack on one of us as an attack on all of us. We say no! We are here to stay! Since it appears Startezia is only a letter-box company, we believe they have no intention to build anything concrete soon, but rather have the land stand empty merely for speculation. In fact, they have had a building permit since 2015 and are only acting now because the permit is set to expire in November 2021. KØPI bleibt Risikokapital!
