A doctor will likely check to see if the glasses/contact prescription has changed, but it's still very possible to have a sudden change in vision without a change in glasses prescription. Here are 5 of many different ways this can happen: 1. Eye Stroke: A Retinal Artery Occlusion or Vein Occlusion can cause blood and fluid to build up the center of the eye, the macular, and cause this change in vision. Get right into the eye doctor or emergency room if you have these symptoms. 2. Retinal Detachment: this usually causes symptoms in the periphery of the vision such as new floaters and flashes of light. But if it's serious, it can cause a macular off retinal detachment that affects the center of the vision. This also warrants a soon-as-possible eye doctor visit. 3. Cataract - specifically a posterior subcapsular cataract. This type of cataract does have the ability to form fast. Once it crosses the central axis of the vision, it can make it seem like the vision when blurry all of a sudden. 4. Migraine Aura - Somebody with an ophthalmic migraine, ocular migraine, and a visual aura can experience this blurry vision. Check out the video link above to learn more about this topic. 5. Diabetes - Diabetic Retinopathy can have similar symptoms as the eye stroke. Macular edema can build up causing central blurry vision.
