First Light in Tangier Day 17. A day without distance. We stay in Tangier to rest, reset, and absorb where we’ve arrived. After days of driving south through Europe and crossing the Strait, this is the first full day on African soil. We walk through the old Medina — narrow streets, layered history, shifting light. A reminder that this rally moves through places that have existed long before our wheels touched them. Today also marks the first day of Ramadan for Shukri. The rhythm changes. Meals shift. Time feels different. The journey becomes more than geography — it becomes personal. The Budapest–Bamako Rally is not only about terrain and endurance. It’s also about awareness — of culture, timing, and each other. No long kilometers today. Just perspective. This is Day 17. Stillness in a new world.
