Farm Projects Before Winter / Getting the Garden Ready for Cold Weather

Winter is on its way to Double N Farm, and there’s still plenty to do before the cold sets in! In this episode, Tammy and James pull back the tarp on the garden to see how the soil’s looking after mixing in all that mushroom compost. With the growing season winding down, it’s time to plant a winter cover crop — a mix of wheat, oats, cereal rye, winter peas, clover, and brassicas. This blend will protect the soil, add nutrients, and help us get a head start on next spring’s garden. We’re also making sure the rest of the farm is winter-ready — checking fences, feeding hay to the cattle, and cozying up the chicken coop. It’s all part of life on the farm this time of year — steady work, good food, and gratitude for everything we’ve built.
