Tough Fishing? So... Is it me? Or the lake? A better understanding of fish population structure can help us estimate whether a water body is worth our precious time. By paying attention to the size structure of our catches, and a bead on growth rates in our region/waters, we can better predict "Boom-n-Bust" fishing, something that can be common, esp on smaller waters that rely on natural reproduction: Which waters are up-and-coming and which are on-their way out; Which waters are best bets for numbers, which are best for BIG bass fishing; And which might best be by-passed, at least for the time being. Yep, following year classes can make our own limited time on the planet more apparent, lol, but can also give us a more intimate perspective on our fishing waters, allowing us to keep our finger on the pulse of those waters.
