The very next day, the traditional Festa Veneziana, the famous water parade on the Grand Canal, marked the official opening celebration of the Carnival. In 2026, the Venice Carnival was dedicated to the spirit of the Milano–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, bringing themes of sport, mythology, and celebration into the heart of the city. We arrived in Venice in our campervan even before the official opening and eagerly awaited the moment when we could finally immerse ourselves in its magical atmosphere. The weather was absolutely wonderful, which only enhanced the festive mood. In this video, you will see what is perhaps the most colorful and authentic event of the Carnival — the Festa Veneziana, the traditional water parade on the Grand Canal. Decorated boats, masked rowers, music, colors, and celebration fill the canal as Venice comes alive in its most joyful form. But beyond the official, ceremonial part, you will also see how the celebration continues. For the participants, the festival does not end with the festive confetti bursts near the Rialto Bridge. The Rialto market area (Erbaria), located next to the bridge, becomes a place where the celebration carries on — full of joy, shared treats, champagne, and cheerful songs. And after the festivities, the happy participants depart on their beautifully decorated boats.
