This is the first stop of a three-day geology field trip examining the tectonic history of the area around Death Valley, between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. It was somewhat hastily filmed during a Cal Poly Pomona Tectonics field trip. Driving directions from I-15: About 22 miles north of Victorville, take the Outlet Center Drive exit and turn right. Drive about 0.3 miles and turn left onto a small dirt road, shortly after the road crosses a tiny bridge. Drive about a hundred yards and park near the pink outcrops (34.8111, -117.0913). High clearance is strongly recommended (4WD if it's rained recently), or you can just pull onto the shoulder instead.
