Jeff Lawson is possibly the most influential node on the Jiu Jitsu network in the south and a huge swath of the academy’s in Dorset lay beneath the Paraestra UK banner, of which Ippon is the U.K. HQ. On a personal level, getting the chance to meet officially rather than in passing at seminars or visits was something I was thrilled to finally get to do, with Jeff finding a spot in his hectic schedule to speak on his own Jiu Jitsu story and roll for a couple of rounds. The ripples of Jeff’s influence on BJJ in the U.K. cannot be understated, and he has encapsulated what it is to make Jiu Jitsu your entire world, owning and running Ippon with his family. We touched on his personal philosophy’s on BJJ and it’s benefits, the realities of running a team, an academy, and progressing towards the future whilst juggling his personal goals and those of his students.
