St. Francis collected stones to rebuild the physical church around him, which was in fact crumbling. Today our "living stones" are also challenged, tempted to fly from the Faith, to yield to the blandishments of a pleasure-seeking society. We want to gather up a collection of "living stones" to rebuild the Church into a living body, globally, of people striving to love our neighbors — as Christ taught us — in search of holiness, of justice and peace with all, of a happy life...and death. And, for those faithful who love our Church, we want to provide nourishment for their souls, to strengthen their faith in Christ --- to love Him more each day! For if each of us has the treasures of faith, hope and love, though we be “earthen vessels, vessels of clay,” then, each of us, becomes a light, a light to Christ and our Church, the body of Christ, becomes a beacon of light in these difficult times.
