Al Harrington tells the story of his founding Viola in honor of his grandmother, who found relief from chronic pain by using cannabis. Al’s own experience with sports-related injuries parallels that of his grandmother. Through an intimate conversation in Al’s Viola offices, he reflects on the era of the war on drugs, and the wrongful targeting of minority communities that had a lasting effect on Al and influences his mission with Viola. We utilize archival footage to show Al’s childhood as well as highlighting the unrest during the era of the war on drugs. The video then flashes back to the present. We highlight Viola’s charitable efforts and the marijuana industry’s positive effect on local communities. We end the video with a lifestyle shoot as a celebration of individualism and freedom.
