MOORGATE HALT UPPERMILL - CLOSURE BY DIVERSION of Public right of way Proposed improvement if there must be a Closure by Diversion of Public Right of Way FP209 Saddleworth and no Footbridge. This video details a no footbridge solution that is better for walkers than the solution proposed by Network Rail. Proposed improvement for walkers enabling access to be more open and usable giving more direct access to other footpaths if Closure by Diversion of Public Right of Way FP209 Saddleworth is granted. Closure by Diversion of Public Right of Way gives safety 100% however access to Uppermill and beyond is considerably reduced. The solution to closure needs to give openness and useablity. A better solution than that recommended by Network Rail would be as I recommended previously in August 2023. If a footbridge cannot be provided then a definitive footpath claim (PRoW) should be made of the path that leads onto the Delph Donkey. Also improve the pathway as it goes through the underpass and provide signage down onto and up off Den Lane. This will allow access for any walkers heading north of Uppermill or to the centre as will FP244 Saddleworth will allow walkers heading south of Uppermill or to the centre. Improvements on FP244 Saddleworth will also be required mainly the cutting of fallen trees and improve the footpath surface, this footpath is already well signed. You cannot take away without considering giving something back. In my opinion Network Rail is not really giving anything back for extinguishment FP209 Saddleworth at Moorgate Halt.
