Yo, what’s up everybody! Today, Rick the Puppy and I are taking a walk down memory lane, but it’s a tough one. We’re heading over to my old stomping grounds—Russell H. Conwell Middle Magnet School at Clearfield and Jasper. I’m showing you what it was like for me in the '80s versus the heartbreaking reality these kids face today. From the open-air market use on Clearfield Street to the trash on the sidewalk, our city leaders have completely surrendered this neighborhood. Instead of cleaning up the streets and protecting a National Historic Landmark, the city is throwing in the towel and moving the kids to the new AMY at James Martin school in Port Richmond. Is a new building enough, or did the city just abandon a "safe haven" in the heart of Kensington? We’re talking about the failure of local lawmakers, the history of the first magnet middle school in Philly, and why our kids deserve better than what they’re seeing every single day.
