Normally when one thinks of a Crown Metal Products' steam locomotive, they think of a theme-park locomotive that barely makes any noise or has to work at all. The 4-4-0 at Bear Rock Junction, in New Tripoli, PA, is definitely not in that category. This locomotive, running around a golf course and go-karts, definitely puts in some hard work on each of its' trips around the loop it runs on, especially in the back half - a decent elevation change results in somewhat of a steep grade and a very nice stack exhaust as a result. As a bonus, this 15" gauge locomotive burns anthracite coal (not propane, commonly found in other theme park locomotives), which can be found in abundance in its home in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. After visiting on Saturday, July 31, 2021 - I'm convinced that it won't be my last visit to check out this locomotive and operation.
