UPDATE Mar 2019: There is now a dedicated service sip.audio which allows apps such as Luci Live and Linphone to connect to other pro audio SIP devices, ISDN and ipDTL. https://sip.audio This is a demo of connecting to ipDT using the iOS app Media5-fone. The app is no longer available. An sip.audio account is required for the app. #sipaudio #connectinquality #sip _____________________________ TRANSCRIPT: Hi, this is Kevin from In:Quality. There's been some talk on our facebook ipDTL Users group about mobile apps, and Roger Woods points out there's an app called Media5fone which uses the SIP protocol which ipDTL supports. So I have it here on my iPhone, and I've opened it up. If we go to the settings, you'll see I have an sip.audio account configured as the username and password. Under servers, we have sip.audio and then if we go to 'Advanced' under 'Media Options' and 'Codecs' and 'Wi-Fi Codecs', you'll see that I've brought G.722 to the top here. Now, it doesn't support Opus which is our preferred codec, but G722 is reasonable; for journalists in the field for instance. We did have to unlock the app initially, which cost just under £5 GBP in order to expose that G722 codec, otherwise it just works at telephone quality. I also have here the iRig HD microphone which has a USB style connection in the bottom, and you can connect using a Lightning port into the iPhone. If we now go to ipDTL, because we've enabled the Login ID for SIP. it appears in our list. If I click it, I get an incoming call on the app. I'll accept the call, and if I now switch microphones to the iRig, you'll hear that the quality is characteristic of G722, which is a little more muffled than the opus codec which is our preferred codec for sip.audio but for a journalist reporting from the field for instance it's reasonable quality. It's worth noting also, that this call is being made using 4G LTE connectivity on the iPhone. Thanks for watching.
