Jamie Thompson, founder of Relationship Flow State, walks through the #1 Love Hack for your relationship and how to fix it before it’s too late. Conflict is inevitable but being able to mend a relationship is what separates those who stay together and those who don't. There are 3 steps to this Love Hack. But first, set up is key. If you want to communicate with your partner, be aware of their current state. When it’s a good time, approach them and ask “Hey honey, do you have a few minutes to talk about something?” This allows them to give consent before you launch into something. 1. Responsibility: Owning your part in the relationship or argument gives your partner the space to take responsibility as well. Responsibility is contagious. This also puts you in a place of power and the creator of your own experience. 2. Vulnerability: Share what’s really going on underneath. Don’t share the logical argument, or shut down to your feelings. Arguing facts never solves anything. 3. Empathy: Understanding what it’s like to be someone else is key. A conflict is never about the content, but rather how the other person is feeling. Never assume you know what it’s like to be your partner, so ask!
