The temple is noted for its annual festival namely, Revathi Pattathanam, a cultural and intellectual seven-day event celebrated in the Malayalam month of Thulam (mid-October – mid-November). The temple features majestic wood carvings, beautiful wall paintings, and roofs with intricate designs. The walls of the sanctum sanctorum (sreekovil) are built in the shape of a chariot that has brass designs and mural paintings. Sree Balussery Vettakkorumakan Temple, Kozhikode This is an ancient shrine situated within the ruins of Balussery Kotta (Fort) in Kozhikode district, Kerala. The presiding deity is believed to be the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathy. He is considered a hunter god and is popular in many villages in northern Kerala. The ceiling and walls of the temple are decorated with mural paintings. The Ananthashayanam (Lord Vishnu in reclining pose) is one of the most popular murals at Balussery temple. The temple is noted for its unique ritual, held during the annual festival, called Pantheerayiram thengayeru, which consists of the breaking of 12,000 coconuts continuously in a rhythmic motion. Lokanarkavu Temple, Vadakara Lokanarkavu Temple, a well-known pilgrim centre in northern Kerala, is frequently referred to in the Vadakkan Pattukal (ballads of North Kerala). It is believed that the legendary hero Thacholi Othenan was a devotee of the goddess, Lokanarkavilamma. During the annual festival, Poorakkali performances are conducted here. Puthur Durga Devi Temple, Puthiyangadi Puthur Durga Devi Temple is situated at Puthiyangadi in Kozhikode district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga and is famed for its ten-day Pooram festival. It usually falls on the Pooram asterism in the Malayalam month of Meenam (mid-March – mid-April). Intricate architecture, with delicate wood ceilings and sculptures, is the peculiarity of this temple. Azhakodi Devi Temple Azhakodi Devi Temple, located in Kozhikode district in Kerala, is known for its Kerala style of architecture. Here, the presiding deity, Bhadrakali, is depicted as a martial goddess, armed with Sword, Trident and Crescent Moon, and holding a Skull and a Snake. The annual nine-day festival of this shrine starts with a kodiyettam (ceremonial flag hoisting) on the Utrattathi asterism in the Malayalam month of Medam (mid-April – mid-May) and ends on the Punartham asterism with an arattu (ceremonial bath of the deity). The annual Sivaratri festival is celebrated in a big way. Varakkal Devi Temple, Kozhikode Varakkal Devi Temple in Kozhikode is considered to be the 108th and the last Devi temple built by Sree Parasurama, the legendary founder of Kerala. It is believed that Parasurama ploughed this area in order to make Devi (the goddess) appear. The main festival here is the Vavu Bali when thousands congregate to perform the ancestral obsequies. Thiruvannur Siva Temple Being one of the famous shiva temples in Kozhikode, Thiruvannur Siva Temple was built in 1044 A.D.
