Freediving Competition Explained by Freediver
Andrew Ryzebol competes in Constant Weight Bi-Fins at the AIDA Special Individual Depth Competition 2020 organized by ApneaCity in Thetford Mines, Quebec, Canada. He describes what a small local competition is like in our cold Canadian waters. On this dive he is attempting to reach 63m/206ft, of which over half the dive will be in 4C/39F water. After gaining experience for a few years while in dive gear, Andrew Ryzebol was ready to face the next challenge to see what the human body is capable of. He began swimming under ice in 2016, and was shocked to find out how far the mind can take you when your body experiences discomfort. Freediving under the ice in Canada is one of the most unique and beautiful experiences.
