#urbex #darkambient #abandonedplaces The Helios Health Resort now (formerly a single building) consists of two buildings connected by a semicircular one-story extension. It was built in 1976 as a facility in the famous high-mountain part of Slovakia, the High Tatras, known for its virgin nature and healthy environment. The facility served until about 2005, so it has been abandoned for two decades. In the coming years, it should be renovated and serve a similar purpose again as it once did. Welcome to the second part of my exploration. This time the building offers more details, more things and objects, and in some rooms echoes and ghosts of the past come to life. 00:00 Entering the building 00:35 Inside - The Mural, water dripping & general disorder 02:26 Reception desk but no guests 03:44 White buckets, blue canisters 05:00 Heading upstairs to the 1st floor 05:33 Balcony walk & empty rooms 06:48 The room with vegetation 07:13 "We strongly advise our clients that the use of kettles and stoves in the rooms is strictly prohibited." 07:21 Mossy rooms 08:25 The Building was cut off here 09:27 Up to the 2nd floor 10:21 City 17 Toxic waters?? 10:39 Another short balcony walk 11:35 Up to the 3rd floor 11:52 The Patria Hotel & ski jump outside the "window" 12:24 Ponds... according to the info - dining room and kitchen 13:45 The view to the Building 1 & graffitti 15:05 Back to the ground floor 16:00 Let us take a look to the basement 16:52 Entrance hall - Water drips and stalactites form on the ceiling 19:00 Stalagmite slowly taking shape? 19:32 Cinema hall 20:30 Wannabe stalagmite no.2 20:54 Projector room 21:16 Crash into a metal door :-) & back to the Entrance hall 22:13 Massage room? 23:27 Deeper basement 23:52 Batteries are finished and mobile phone light will not do it 24:26 Leaving through the "gate hole" "Built in 1976, the sanatorium is located in a less visually exposed location of Štrbské Pleso, east of the pedestrian route to the Dream Area. Although the author-architect did not use typical mountain means of expression, the four-storey building integrates very well into the environment. It is partially embedded in the slope and its ground plan is shaped according to contour lines. The entrance area on the north side, as well as the supply entrance in the basement on the west, are at ground level. The areas with medical equipment protrude from the mass of the institution on the south side. The part for adults (200 beds) and the part for children (150 beds) are separated by centrally located social, catering and examination facilities. The dining rooms are on the top floor. The rooms for adults are 1- and 2-bed rooms. The children's part has a department for preschool children and a department with classrooms. The layout of the inpatient areas is three-section, with all rooms facing exclusively south. The Asthmatic Institute is a combination of a monolithic reinforced concrete skeleton and a brick transverse load-bearing system. The simple and impressive architectural design of the sanatorium was awarded the Prize of the Slovak Architects' Association in 1977."
