But against all odds, in the capital city of Luxembourg, a pair of funicular ropeways can be found since 2017. These parallel ropeways connect the Pfaffenthal train station with the city quarter of Kirchberg. It is primairly used by people from all around the country and beyond, who take the train everyday to go to work in Luxembourg City. This also explains the enormous total capacity of 7200pph, as these funiculars have to withstand the rush hour twice every day. Prior to the ropeways construction, people were forced to either climb up a fatiguingly long set of stairs or take long detours. Nowadays, these funiculars provide a very quick and comfortable transport up the valley for everyone, even outside of the rushhour. As seen in the video, only one side is operated outside of rush hours however. Regarding technical specs, these funiculars are both very typical Doppelmayr constructions from 2017. Notable here is their respective lengths of just 200 meters, and as a result, the low ride time of just over 60 seconds.
