I am introducing a video and partnership over a year in the making. I’m a member of the Board for the community theater group The Waynesboro Players, and last February the director Roz Collins submitted a proposal for The Players to produce the comedy play called the Whatchamacallits. The play was written by, the Virginian play write Rick Hite, who is a founding member of Oak Grove Theater in Staunton. The story is about two lovely women, Faith and Grace, who reside in an assisted living home. In the video we learn that they are in different stages of their lives, and while many of us have memory slips or find ourselves at a loss for words, one of the characters is a little farther removed from reality than the other. I first read this play about a year after my dad passed from Alzheimer's and dementia and I related to the universal experiences of memories, aging, and caregiving. Pastor April, Annsley, and I recorded this preview of scene one when we joined their rehearsal this week and thanks to many willing hearts we get to share it with you this morning. Thank you, Kaitlin Steck Meet Grace and Faith as they offer a behind-the-scenes glimpse from rehearsals of the Waynesboro Players’ upcoming play, The Whatchamacallits. Come see the full performance at Blue Ridge Community College, February 20–22, 2026. Learn more at https://waynesboroplayers.org.
