Atlético de Madrid took part in the gorilla naming ceremony in Rwanda

Atlético de Madrid was present at the 20th edition of Kwita Izina, the iconic gorilla naming ceremony held each year in Rwanda. This year’s event took place on Friday 5 September at the foot of Volcanoes National Park in Kinigi, one of the regions most recognised for its work in biodiversity conservation. Visit Rwanda, a sponsor of the club, invited us to take part in this important occasion, which was attended by global leaders, artists and other football figures. Representing the club was Atlético legend Luis García. During the ceremony, 40 mountain gorilla infants born in 2023 and 2024 were given names in a symbolic act reinforcing the commitment to protecting this endangered species.
