A passenger Raj Prakash was assaulted in the executive coach of Vande Bharat Express at Jhansi railway station. The injured passenger alleged that the assault took place at the behest of BJP MLA Rajiv Singh Paricha because he refused to change his seat. Rajiv Singh is a BJP MLA from Babina (Jhansi) and was travelling in the train with his wife and son. During the incident, the train had stopped at Jhansi station, when about half a dozen people entered the coach and beat Raj Prakash, due to which blood started coming out of his nose and mouth. The train then left for Bhopal. The GRP is avoiding saying anything on record on this incident, although a case has been registered. At the same time, Congress leaders also attacked the BJP over this incident and raised questions on the safety of passengers. The MLA clarified that he had only asked the passenger to sit properly and the matter escalated.
