Potting the Prairie Plants [and Making Soil Mix]

Today I potted all of the prairie plants that will not be planted as plugs. The Fowl manna Gras (Glyceria striata) will not go in the ground until the catchment pond is dug. Fowl manna grass is a plant for wet areas, and I believe it will do real well in the gray/roof water catchment pond — but the pond has yet to be dug, sot they need to be in pots until them. The Purple Milkweed (Asclepias purpurascens) is way too tiny to go into the ground yet, so that goes into pots until they are much larger. I plan to plant them close to the house because of their awesome scent and because they attract monarch butterflies. We will have Purple Milkweed in our gardens instead of the very invasive common milkweed. I also potted a few June Grass (Koeleria cristata) which were started from seed that was gathered from June Grass growing on site. I transplanted them because I fear they will die if not transplanted into a more sandy soil. June grass does not like rich soil, and I believe that is why so many sprout — but then wither away. Finally, I plant four perennial plants on graves in the pet cemetery.
