This is a walk in and around the village of Lunteren. Lunteren is literally located at the geographical center of the Netherlands, between Ede and Barneveld, and is part of the municipality of Ede. The village lies on the transition between the Veluwe and the Gelderse Vallei. This is clearly visible during the walk. At the beginning of the video, I pass through the farmland typical of the Gelderse Vallei. At the end of the video, I walk through a small section of the Veluwe forest. The Gelderse Vallei is a region situated between the Veluwe and the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, in the province of Gelderland. Lunteren has 13,775 inhabitants. The village grew significantly in the early 20th century, partly due to the arrival of a train station that connected it to other parts of the Netherlands. During this time, convalescent homes were built in the forest, followed by holiday resorts. As a result, Lunteren gradually became a popular holiday destination. It is a beautiful area for walking and cycling, making it a hotspot for tourists during the summer months. From here, I quickly make my way to the edge of the village, into the outskirts, passing large homes and farms. Next, I follow the Meulunterseweg which leads me back toward to the village. Passing the old windmill “De Hoop,” I walk via the Dorpsstraat to the village square. After that, I visit the sheepfold and the old church before heading into the Lunterse Buurtbos, home to a charming petting zoo. Finally, I return to the center, where you can enjoy the enchanting Christmas lights and beautifully decorated Christmas trees that are always present in December. Lunteren ligt letterlijk in het geografische middelpunt van Nederland, tussen Ede en Barneveld, en maakt deel uit van de gemeente Ede. Het dorp bevindt zich op de overgang van de Veluwe naar de Gelderse Vallei. Dit is duidelijk te zien tijdens de wandeling. Aan het begin van de video kom ik door het boerenland, typerend voor de Gelderse Vallei. Aan het einde van de video wandel ik door een klein stukje bos van de Veluwe. De Gelderse Vallei is een regio tussen de Veluwe en de Utrechtse Heuvelrug, gelegen in de provincie Gelderland. Lunteren heeft 13.775 inwoners. Het dorp groeide aanzienlijk in de vroege 20e eeuw, mede dankzij de komst van een treinstation dat het verbond met andere delen van Nederland. In die tijd werden er hersteloorden in het bos gebouwd, gevolgd door vakantieoorden. Hierdoor werd Lunteren langzaam een populaire vakantiebestemming. Het is een prachtige omgeving om te wandelen en fietsen, wat het in de zomermaanden een trekpleister voor toeristen maakt. Voordat Lunteren meer bekendheid kreeg, was het een afgelegen, traditioneel christelijk dorpje dat voornamelijk leefde van de landbouw. De wandeling begint bij het treinstation van Lunteren. Vanuit hier loop ik al snel naar de rand van het dorp, het buitengebied in, met grote woonhuizen en boerderijen. Vervolgens loop ik over de Meulunterseweg, die richting het buurtschap Meulunteren leidt, en keer ik terug naar het dorp. Langs de oude molen “De Hoop” wandel ik via de Dorpsstraat naar het dorpsplein. Daarna bezoek ik de schaapskooi en de oude kerk, waarna ik het Lunterse Buurtbos in loop, met een mooie kinderboerderij. Tot slot keer ik terug naar het centrum, waar je in de schemering kunt genieten van de sfeervolle kerstverlichting en de versierde kerstbomen die er altijd in de maand december te vinden zijn.
