Pinching Fig Trees | 4 Important Applications & A Rundown of its History: https://www.figboss.com/post/pinching... A More Detailed Look at River's Pruning Fig Trees: • Everbearing Fig Trees: How to Make Fig Tre... & • Increasing the Production on your Fig Tree... Here's a quick rundown: 1 fruiting branch turns into 3-4 fruiting branches after performing this technique. Given enough time left in your growing season, that's easily a 100% increase in your harvest. After pinching, it takes about 30 days to see fruit set on the new branches and another 65 for Ronde de Bordeaux to ripen them. Therefore, Ronde de Bordeaux is more suited to this technique for growers in shorter-season climates, as most varieties take 90 days to ripen after formation. For this technique to work, a few things must be true: 1. Enough time left in your growing season 2. Branches with larger leaves (more sunlight availability) 3. Branches with a hormonal balance favoring growth (wide node spacing) This can be achieved with the right amount of heading pruning cuts during the winter or dormancy. This technique will not work very well on slower-growing fig trees with tight node spacing or on branches that have stopped growing and are fully lignified. If they've stopped growing, a heavy pruning after your first crop of main finishes may be enough to yield the same results. This depends on your variety and the amount and type of pruning during the prior winter. One of the most overlooked benefits of this technique is having control over the timing of your main crop. This can help growers avoid the monsoon season and time their crop in October-December after most hurricanes have passed. For growers in long-season, hot, and dry places, consistent soil moisture may be required. Looking for fig trees or cuttings?
