Shadow Home Affairs Minister James Paterson has warned Australians to “not be naïve or complacent” about the “persistent and pervasive threat” of foreign interference. ASIO has revealed a retired politician was cultivated by spies and sold out Australia and their party. “This is a very important wake-up call for the public and, importantly, the political class that foreign interference is a persistent and pervasive threat and that espionage is too,” Mr Paterson told Sky News Australia host Peta Credlin. “We shouldn’t be naïve or complacent about that. “I welcome what the Director-General has said.”
