Living in NYC on $2,600 a month. This is what a week of spending actually looks like — the real numbers, no sponsorships making it seem easier than it is. My rent is $1,350 which takes up more than half my budget right away. That leaves me about $1,250 for food, transportation, activities, and everything else. Roughly $312 a week. Sounds doable until you remember what things cost in this city. I've been cooking at home a lot more lately which honestly makes the biggest difference. I'm also really into bouldering right now — just started and I'm obsessed. Getting a monthly membership actually saves me money compared to what I used to spend going out on weeknights and weekends. Plus I feel like I'm getting better at something which is a nice bonus. The hardest part of budgeting here isn't the rent or the big expenses. It's the little treats. A coffee here, a pastry there, a random smoothie because you walked past somewhere cute. None of it feels like a lot in the moment but it adds up so fast. I'm not saying never treat yourself but I'm trying to be way more intentional about it. I made this video because most NYC content is either people spending thousands on everything or people saying the city is completely unaffordable. The reality for a lot of us is somewhere in the middle. It's tight but it works if you're honest with yourself about where the money is going. If you're living on a budget in NYC or thinking about moving here, I hope this helps. Drop a comment and let me know what your biggest money trap is — I know I'm not the only one getting taken out by the little treats. New videos every week, subscribe if you want to follow along.
