Thunderbird train from Kanazawa gets a thumbs up!

I rode on JR's Thunderbird train from Osaka, Japan up to the city of Kanazawa. Thunderbird is a popular limited express route, since (at the time of this journey) there is no shinkansen bullet train linking the two areas directly. Thunderbird goes right along the edge of Lake Biwa, one of Earth's oldest lakes. Other than that spectacular scenery, the train took me through vast green fields and gorgeous grey-green mountains. Life on board was cool and comfortable despite the summer heat outside, and my reserved seat (which came at a higher price) and the between-car facilities made the trip even more enjoyable. It only lasted two hours and 38 minutes but as far as I was concerned, it could have gone on much longer.
