Air Moana NM5112 : Flying from Bora Bora to Papeete

6th June 2023 Bora Bora was a short-lived but beautiful experience. Now, it was time to head back to the capital. My return to Papeete is aboard Air Moana on their 6 years old ATR 72-600, F-ORMU. Poor communication meant that we were at Bora Bora airport hours earlier than expected. No internet also meant we were in the dark about what was happening as the Air Moana staff didn't arrive until closer to departure. I didn't want to risk missing our flight in case we decided to return back to the resort. I explored the airport and its surroundings while we waited. The staff eventually arrived by boat and we checked in. After even more waiting and day turned to night, passengers aboard the same flight grew increasingly worried that our flight was never going to arrive. At one point, it looked like the staff had all left the airport, but they were just gathering outside. Our plane touched down and we were ready to board at Gate 1. Unlike Air Tahiti, I was assigned Seat 11D and I settled down promptly. There were other passengers aboard from Raiatea. The cabin looked very modern and more comfortable than Air Tahiti's aircraft which surprised me. Shortly after, the engines were started and we taxied to the runway before taking off towards Papeete. Refreshments were served which were tasty and I got to browse some of their entertainment. We then landed at Papeete and taxied towards Gate 54. I was quite impressed at the superb quality that Air Moana provided and it's a huge distinction from Air Tahiti. Walking back into the terminal, we almost forgot our bags at Carousel C. But once that was done, we felt relieved to be back in the capital and caught a taxi to our hotel.
