Lost in London

I made this video-poem in 2012 with Woj Duczmal, who I made my BBC4 stuff with. It was commissioned for the Cultural Olympics and premiered at the Barbican, and was then screened quite widely across London around the time of the Olympics. Looking back now it captures the dying days of an East End and a London that unfortunately no longer exists. I'd lived in Shoreditch, Hackney and Bethnal Green through the early 2000s and worked and drank in pubs like the Bricklayers Arms and the Griffin, while writing my debut novel The Giro Playboy, and it was a golden place and time for me, so watching the film now is a bitter-sweet experience ...
