Gardners Level Crossing, Vange, Essex on the London, Tilbury and Southend Lines. Location: 51.552689, 0.476076 Date Filmed: 19-02-2019 - Nearest Station: Pitsea - Trains: Class 357 (c2c) Class 357 (c2c) This crossing is located slight south-west of Vange, at the entrance to 'Marsh Farm', only 0.5 miles away from Vange level crossing. Also located right beside the busy 70mph A13 dual-carriageway. Much of the noise in the video is by passing vehicles on this road. Some sort of business, part of the farm, called 'Gardners' is based there which is probably why this level crossing is officially called 'Gardners'. This crossing is also operated 'on request'. A user must push the button on the 'push-button unit' and wait for the signalman at a control centre several miles away to raise the crossing. The crossing is not immediately lowered after it has been raised by the signalman. Overhead bells can be seen at this crossing which aren't too common. If an vehicle too high attempts to cross, the bells will be hit and will ring as an alert to the vehicle driver. This is the only access to the other side of the railway line, apart from a small lane underneath the railway with a low height limit a few hundred yards away. Thanks For Watching!
