This is another video in my series “New Forest Walks” accompanied by my Whippet (Logan). In this episode I undertake a 3 mile circular route at Bramshaw Telegraph (also known as Telegraph Hill) which is about 3 miles North West of the village of Brook. The origin of the name comes from the fact that there was once an Optical Signal Shutter Station located at the site – now long since gone. Our walk starts by heading South to explore the site of Studley Castle – a medieval Royal Hunting Lodge before doubling back to join the original circular route. After heading West down Claypit Bottom and up to Homy Ridge, we head South in to Eyeworth Wood. Another change in direction sees us head West, down in to Islands Thorns Inclosure – one of the largest even-aged oak plantations in the Forest, over Latchmore Brook and up out on to the heathland plain where I explore a set of Bronze Age Barrows. The weather was perfect for this Spring walk – glorious sunshine & a perfect temperature. Map courtesy of Google Maps. Aerial pictures courtesy of Google Maps. Music from the Youtube Audio library.
