On Sunday, September 22, 2024, at approximately 1856 hours, officers with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) were on vessel patrol in Broward County. While on patrol, a personal watercraft (PWC), later identified as *******, was observed coming in through Port Everglades Inlet on full plane in a slow speed, minimum wake zone. Emergency lights were activated to conduct a safety inspection and address the violation. The PWC had two occupants. The operator was asked to provide the vessel registration and identification. During the boating safety inspection, several violations were discovered. A records check through the dispatch center revealed that the operator had two active warrants out of Orange County, Florida. Orange County confirmed the warrants and advised they would extradite. The vessel was turned over to the second occupant, and the rental vendor, who was also on scene, took possession of it. The operator was placed under arrest and booked into the Broward County Jail. Body worn camera footage is available upon request.
