GDSLABv202x - https://www.gdsinstruments.com/gdslab... Video Transcript: Hello and welcome to this GDS Lab V2025 tutorial, how to migrate from GDS Lab V2 to V2024 onwards. Now, first, you need to be able to obtain our software from our website. And as always, the latest version will be on this area here on this website address. So, hcps slash slash www.gdsinstruments.com slash gdslab dash video dash handbook dot html. This is the area where we have all of our videos as well as the latest versions of our GDS Lab software. So here it says a big green button here. It's got the GDS Lab software, so you can click this and download it. At the time of recording, this is our latest version. So what you can do is download anyway from the Google Drive. It will download for me. And then once it's downloaded, you want to extract it. So here we go. I'm extracting it. And then we do have a video that you can reference regarding how to install GDS Lab, which is here on the website. How to install GDS Lab should be two minutes 32. Or if it's been updated, it might slightly change, but it should be this one should be the very first one under installation. Then next, once you've installed GDS Lab successfully, you should be able to boot it. And you should be met with screen something like this. And the first thing you're going to want to do is check your license. So to do this, you go to press the three dots here and go to about. And then you can see here is quite a useful area. But first it tells you that you're in GDS Lab and then the year that you've got and then your version. And then it tells you your license and hardware ID. So the hardware ID is important and it's relevant to your PC. And that's randomly generated. And only you should know your hardware ID. But we might ask for it, but you shouldn't be sharing it with anyone else. This is how we generate your license files. So if you're wondering how to load in your license, there is another video on that. If I go back to our website, it is how to register my GDS Lab license again underneath how to install. So again, this is a very useful area to look at. The key difference, though, this time around is that the licenses are actual files that we send you that the software loads in. There's no need for a dongle now compared to like how you would be used to using in V2. There's no USB dongle. It's just a file that we sent you and then you load in and then your software magically starts to work. So that's the idea behind that. To do this, though, you do need to get the license key from the sales team. So you need to be in conversation with them. So now the next thing you're going to want to do if I close that is one create a new station, which is this button here. As you can see, I've already got a new station up, so I can delete that for you quickly and show you how to create a new station. It's this one here. And then you're going to want to load in a GDS lab V2 any file. So we do have a reference for that as well. Another video and that is down here. How to create a station from an existing GDS lab V2 any file. So reference this video as well for information there. What I'm going to do is just load in a quick station for myself for my own purposes. So here we are. The next step you might want to do is then load in your calibration files from V2 if they haven't automatically been imported alongside the GDS lab V2 any file. You can do this manually. And again, we've got yet another video importing a GDS lab V2 calibration file. So all of this is explained every single step. And then at this point, you should be ready to start using GDS lab. And we also have, again, yet another video that explains how to do this. And this time there will be at one point a new video called tour of the software GUI, which is just how to use the software from start to finish. Again, reference this video to how to use the entirety of the software. Now, the key changes that you might want to be aware of compared to V2 and our latest software is that the areas of where the files typically save. Now, you do have full control over where you save your files, but by default, there are different areas. So this I'm looking at right now is the V2 area. So it's usually this PC, local disk C and then GDS lab. And then you have all of your files that you're used to seeing from V2. This has changed for our latest software from V2023, 2024, 2025, et cetera. They are now all stored in this location. So it's C uses public, public documents, GDS instruments and then GDS lab. And then you have your calibration files or files to do with the library. Your station files and your test files by default. These are all stored here. Transcript too long for YT character limit
