This is a restored archival recording of Jagannath. First staged in 1977, and performed one last time in 2012 at the 40th Anniversary Festival of Chetana, this production remains inseparable from the towering presence of Arun Mukhopadhyay — playwright, composer, director, and the unforgettable Jagannath himself. The recording we had was technically fragile — the resolution imperfect, the sound almost unusable. We have tried to restore it with care and respect, believing it to be an important archival document for future theatre practitioners and researchers. My immense thanks to Shommi Chatterjee, who patiently cleaned and revived the damaged sound. Deep gratitude to Mayookh Bhaumik for generously allowing us to use one of his compositions. This release is also a remembrance of their artistry, dedication, and the era they helped build. On the day of Arun Mukhopadhyay's 89th birthday, we offer this restored performance back to the audience.
