A diver who has spent years recovering wrecked cars from the sea at Ċirkewwa has renewed his call for warning signs at the South Quay, saying it becomes dangerous when seas turn rough. Raniero Borg, who has been scuba diving around the islands for 40 years, told Times of Malta that the sea around the Ċirkewwa spot where 13-year-old Oliwia Wojnowska died last month is notorious for battering the quay mercilessly during storms, often swallowing cars into the waves. “That is how dangerous it gets down here. The swell is strong enough to swallow cars, let alone people,” he said.
