So you have an old PC 5.1 surround sound system or maybe a surround sound system that only takes analog inputs like this one. But you have a new modern TV with Optical (digital) audio outputs and no 3.5mm outputs. Well here's the solution! You can buy a cheap 6 channel (5.1) DAC off eBay or amazon that claims it can do 5.1 surround for $40, but people claim it's not a "real" 5.1 signal and more or less just decodes a stereo signal and then mocks a 5.1 signal. But the best option is a full blown Digital surround processor! Much more pricey but you get what you pay for! The one I have is a Technics SH-AC500D made from 1998 through 2005 (I believe). The reason I say go with these older processors is because it's cheaper (than a brand new one), and they don't make designated 5.1 processors much anymore as it's become an all in one thing nowadays (amplifier, processor, and media interface all in one). This processor is capable of 24bits/s at 48kHz across 6 channels, and it sounds awesome!!! The cables or adapters you'll need is 3, 3.5mm to RCA cables (Male 3.5mm to Male RCA) or if you already have color coated 3.5mm cables (Like I Do), then just buy 3, 3.5mm to RCA adapters (Female 3.5mm to Male RCA). With this processor my 7 year old Logitech z506 can be connected to modern TVs and anything else with a digital audio output! 3.5mm to RCA cable: https://amzn.to/3lSzKMb Female 3.5mm to RCA: https://amzn.to/3lRafLb Toslink (optical) cable: https://amzn.to/3TXboNL 0:00 - Intro 0:05 - The Problem 0:18 - The Cheap Solution 0:31 - The Best Solution 1:14 - The Cables or Adapters You'll need 1:22 - Connecting It To The Surround Sound System 1:38 - Connecting The Processor To The System 2:05 - Connecting The Digital Inputs 2:22 - Problem Solved 2:29 - Additional Information 2:50 - The Xbox & Rear Surround Speakers Amplifier 3:07 - Subwoofer 3:13 - Universal Intro (Sound Test) 3:37 - Despicable Me 2 Intro (Sound Test) 4:31 - Thanks For Watching! #Technics #Logitech
