USSSA Releases 2026 Program Featuring Over 30 Sports Disciplines

More than thirty sports disciplines are set to be organised by the body in charge of sports in secondary schools, the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association this year. The Elite Schools Games will be the first competitions to be played, and they will be hosted at Janan School in Bombo Our reporter has more. The 2026 calendar of the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association will officially open with the Elite Schools Games has been launched at GNS hotel in Kampala. These will take place from the 26th of this month to the 1st of next month at Janan School Bombo. Byte- Schools will compete in seven sports disciplines, including football, netball, volleyball,rugby 7’s,handball,basket 3X3 and regular basketbal 5X5. Byte- USSSA President Justus Mugisha says the school has already been inspected and found to have all the facilities required to host the competitions. Byte- The association that gets 7b/- from government will also organise the secondary schools ball games at Seroma Christian High School in Mukono. These will be followed by the national boys’ football finals in Lira District and Ball Games two in Gulu. Byte Mugisha adds that this year Uganda will be represented in several international competitions, aimed at giving players an opportunity to further develop their talents. Byte School competitions attract the largest number of athletes, and if sports associations use them effectively to identify talent, national teams will improve their performance in various competitions.
