Don't forget to LIKE, COMMENT and SUBSCRIBE! Many shooters lose valuable time due to sloppy speed reloads. Reloads need to be fast but smooth as smooth is fast! It takes plenty of dry fire practice to perfect smooth fast and consistent speed reloads. In this video, I discuss some aspects of speed reloads that should be kept in mind, demonstrate the speed reload and provide some tips that will help you execute clean, smooth and consistent speed reloads. When you think of how many reloads you execute over a match, the time lost due to improperly conducted reloads can add up quickly, cause you to lose stages or even the match and cause you endless frustration. One aspect of IPSC shooting is economy of motion which saves times. This does not just pertain to the movement between shooting positions but all movement such as movement of your pistol during shooting and in the execution of speed reloads. Therefore, fast, smooth and consistent speed reloads are important as they will save you time if properly executed. You want minimal movement during speed reload as more movement will cost you time. For example, if you lower your pistol to your stomach level during the reload, you will lose time while lowering the pistol further than you need to and lose time bringing the the pistol back up to engage the next targets. That is a lots of extra movement and time used / lost because of all the distance that the pistol has traveled down to your stomach and back up to the shooting position. Keeping the pistol higher up and closer to the level that you will be shooting while executing the speed reload will result in minimal movement and minimal time lost. Therefore, there is more to executing a speed reload than doing the basic movements....ejecting the mag, pulling a fresh mag from your belt, inserting the fresh mag into the pistol mag well and pushing the pistol back onto a target to start shooting again. I hope this video will give you a few good tips and food for thought in regards to conducting fast, smooth and consistent speed reloads besides the basics of the reload.
