Sometimes adventures don’t go as planned… After being labeled as spies in the heart of the Democratic Republic of Congo, we fled on motorbikes to the border of the province. Along the way, we ran out of food, and had to buy what we could find from the locals. This is Pygmy Tribe territory, and many eat bush meat. We bought a crocodile before flooding our motorbikes a few kilometers later. The sun was setting, we were stuck, so we went the the nearest village with an offer… our crocodile for a night stay in their village. They accepted. I learned this tribe knew how to party. We chopped up the croc, showed each other some dance moves, and slept in straw huts over the Congo River. I can’t make this sh*t up. You can’t pay for travel moments like this. They land on your lap, and you make a choice… Let the experience lead you, trust that the world is kind, and open yourself up to the world.
