It is characterised by historic districts filled with wooden houses that hail from the Edo Period. With the Miyagawa River as the centrepiece, along with its many unique and characterful bridges and streets steeped in antiquity, this showcases the traditional side of Japan. After visiting the morning market, we proceeded to the nearby HIDA FOLK VILLAGE, an open-air museum comprising of old thatch-roofed farmhouses that depict the traditional designs seen in the mountainous regions. It is here that we tried our hand at some handicraft, and got acquainted with some ducks. In the next journey, we will visit the nearby and world-renowned UNESCO World Heritage site – SHIRAKAWA-GO, with its famed traditional houses. Join me in my next video soon.
